Breast Enlargement

Almost everyone would like to change something about themselves given the choice but when it comes to a women?s appearance it is their breast that they want to change first. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with being self critical of your appearance but when it affects your self-esteem and a relatively routine procedure will change this then what woman is going to refuse a breast augmentation operation.

Breast surgery has many names but generally all meaning the same type of procedure where the woman?s breast has the shape and size altered in a procedure that takes no longer than one and a half hours under a general anesthetic. There are two types of implant and two places where the cosmetic surgeon will make the incision; either below the breast or at the edge of the areola.

Silicone implants are widely used as they give a more natural shape and feel when enhancing a woman?s breast Silicon is the second most abundant element on earth, next to oxygen. Silicone is a naturally occurring element found in sand, quartz, and rock and is found in many other types of implants, such as facial implants, artificial joints and drainage systems, it has been determined to be safe and effective by the FDA.

With saline breast implants, similar sacks are used but filled with a saline solution which has been deemed perfectly safe to use especially as our own bodies are largely mad up of a similar fluid. In fact there is very little difference in the way a silicone breast implant works as opposed to a saline one.

Silicone has come under scrutiny by certain groups owing to a number of incidents where the sack has broken and the problems that silicone leaking into the bloodstream and body may cause. Ruptures in breast implants are a possibility that anybody obtaining breast implants faces.

Of course these sacks are very strong and reliable but nevertheless, instances of rupture have happened and it is possible the material contained in them might dissipate throughout the body. If a rupture were to occur, a saline breast would deflate and the saline held within the implant would harmlessly absorb within the body.

Cosmetic breast surgery is considered very safe and is an extremely routine procedure largely free from problems even though any type of operation does have some risk associated with it. If you are still in doubt, ask the cosmetic surgery clinic if you can speak to some of their women clients who have undergone cosmetic breast surgery which should help allay any fears you may have.

Any discussion like this will help with any questions, worries and give a better idea of what is to be expected right from the outset.
