After Silicone Breast Implants
Nowadays cosmetic surgeons can change almost anything about the way we look but more than other type of physical enhancement for a woman, it is improving the size and shape of their breast that is almost always the first to be considered. Many women believe that they can improve their whole appearance and how people see them by this type of procedure so it isn?t usually hard to convince them to go ahead with cosmetic breast surgery.
Breast surgery has many names but generally all meaning the same type of procedure where the woman?s breast has the shape and size altered in a procedure that takes no longer than one and a half hours under a general anesthetic. Generally there are tow areas of entry; the underside of each breast and at the lower edge of the areola and, as there are two types of breast implant available it will be down to personal choice as to which one is used, under the guidance of the cosmetic surgeon.
Still the most popular implant, silicone is used in a gel like sack that will provide a natural look and feel to the breast. Silicone is an easy element to process being found in rocks, granite and sand but its uses as an implant are growing and can now be found in other facial implants as well as artificial joints to name only a couple.

Saline breast implants contain saline as its filler material and unlike silicone, is considered to be completely safe, this is because saline is a salt-water solution that is similar to the fluid that makes up the majority of the human body. The saline breast implant has a similar function to the silicone and can enhance the shape and feel of a person?s breast.
The use of silicone, despite assurances of safety by the manufacturers and the FDA, concern some people regarding a number of situations where the sacks have ruptured and the silicone has leaked into the body and blood causing problems with the immune system and other disorders including cancer and neurological. This is a subject that any person, male or female, having an implant must face whether it is silicone or saline.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure the implant will not rupture, and they are very strong, the material contained in them will under those circumstances leak into the body as it has nowhere else to go. Of course this is not a problem if a saline implant were to deflate as the body would be able to absorb the harmless fluid easily.
Any type of surgery carries some risks but breast surgery is now a very common procedure where almost all the risks have been eliminated. Often the best people to speak to regarding a decision on breast surgery are those who have already had the procedure.
Any discussion like this will help with any questions, worries and give a better idea of what is to be expected right from the outset.
