Generally seen in the lower half of the body, i.e. legs and buttocks, cellulite is the condition where the skin appears to have that orange peel affect in certain areas. It would be unfair to say this is a condition exclusive to overweight women because that couldn?t be further from the truth and can affect even slim women.

A number of fats collect in the lower areas of skin and push against the connective tissue forcing the skin to pucker or have a dimpled look which is called cellulite. After many years of research, scientists still cannot determine the exact cause of cellulite or why some are affected more than others but there may be some connection between toxins that enter the body and how certain fat cells store them.

What is certain though is that the older you become the greater the likelihood of cellulites forming as the elastin and collagen, that also stops wrinkles, becomes less effective. The condition is almost exclusive to women and has been attributed to hormonal changes that take place as a woman gets older as the fat in the thighs and buttocks of men is the same as fat found in other parts of their bodies.

Even women who do not appear to have cellulites may have them and sometimes this is visible when the skin is compressed as in the case of squatting or when it is pinched between the thumb and forefinger; however as most women suffer with at some stage it seems to be a perfectly normal condition. Many factors make up the build-up of cellulites which range from the sex of the person to their age, genetic make-up, skin type, skin thickness all have a part to play in its formation.

As the reasons for cellulites formation is still a mystery, no complete treatment has been devised to rid the condition from people who suffer with is badly even though there are many cellulite creams that claim to rid someone of it. Where cellulites removal massage is offered at a clinic, all that is done is deep tissue massage which just masks the affect so it cannot be seen as readily.

Liposuction has now started to be used to try and remove cellulite and even injecting drugs directly into the cellulite sacks directly. However, these are only temporary measures so do not provide permanent relief and liposuction is really only efficient for deeper based fats and not those close to the surface as with cellulites.

For people who are prone to cellulite, there are no magic cellulites treatments for selective cellulite removal but there are now a number of creams on the market which are designed to help hide the effect cellulite brings. So far the best method is back to basics combining a healthy diet with exercise that gradually burns off the fat but not the connective tissue the cellulite is found it.

If this is also followed by the adoption of drinking plenty of fresh water every day; unwanted toxins which can help in the formation of cellulite in the tissue are gradually removed.
