Although not the problem it once was, Cellulites still causes distress to many women who have additional fat in the tissues of their thighs, buttocks and stomach. However, men can suffer with cellulites as well and are often seen as patches lighter then the surrounding skin. A person with good circulation will have an even and smooth layer of skin but in a person with cellulites, fats become stored, along with other toxin, under the skin when under normal circumstances they would be flushed out. These tissues harden and thicken, producing cellulites, bumpy lines in the skin often referred to as the ‘orange peel’ effect.
There are many factors involved in how the cellulites will appear on any given individual as their weight, lifestyle and also their genetics all play an important role. Strangely there are different types of cellulites and being overweight is only one of the causes of cellulite as active and fit women can also suffer and it is found in the muscles of active women such as dancers and athletes. The hard cellulites attach themselves directly to the muscle tissue and are the hardest to remove. The easier cellulites to see are the soft type and whilst they are more unsightly as they may appear to hang from the skin and affect larger muscle areas, they are considerably easier to remove.
For women, who are he most likely candidates for cellulites, their appearance can start from as early as 14 years of age and will gradually get worse as they age Often, cellulites occur because a woman has started taking the contraceptive pill or has just given birth and even people who have suffered from injuries can develop cellulites.

Having the correct diet and plenty of exercise is still believed to be the best way to control cellulites as exercise will improve the circulation which in turn improves the appearance of the skin. Whilst exercise is good, it works better when working in conjunction with a detoxifying diet which should include plenty of fruits and vegetables. Try to eat more wholegrain foods but avoid wherever possible the likes of coffee and soft fizzy drinks.
Although so far unproven, it is considered by some that spicy foods may also help contribute to the formation of cellulites. The build up of toxins in the body can also be avoided by not drinking alcohol or smoking. Whilst a low fat diet is always preferably for health, reducing the intake of fatty foods helps reduce the enlargement of the cellulites because fat is harder to digest and more difficult to remove from your body.
Proprietary cellulite creams are often successful in the treatment and prevention of cellulites but presently they cannot completely eradicate the tissues. The creams work by making the skin more elastic and contain alpha-hydroxyl acid which doesn’t actually remove the cellulite but helps to hide it. Water, whether drunk or in therapy form is good for the skin as it removes toxins and fats from the system, improving the circulation and digestion, effectively rendering the cellulites less visible.
