Botox Lower Mainland Treatment Wrinkle

With all the hype and fuss over people getting Botox injections for everything from a sagging chin to a droopy eyelid, one has to wonder just what it is that Botox does and how it works. Despite its recent rise to fame, the original research into botox is a few decades old.

Botox is derived from Botulinum toxin, discovered nearly five decades ago and was tested for use as a treatment for disorders of the mind. For patients suffering with uncontrollable blinking and crossed eyes, a treatment finally came in 1989 when the FDA granted approval for botox to be used on these patients and also for wrinkles.

Then later in the first year of the new millennium after many more years of research, it was granted permission to be used on patients with contractions in the upper back and shoulder and neck area plus another eye disorder. In their research, doctors discovered that Botox softened the frown lines between the eyebrows and it was after this discovery that Botox officially came into existence and was FDA approved for cosmetic use in 2002.

Botox paralyses the muscles that cause wrinkles keeping them in a relaxed state and when given sufficient injections over a period of time; frown lines for example, will in effect reduce in intensity. With continued use, the frown lines in most instances will completely vanish but the same effect can be found in lines at the sides of the eyes, mouth and other forehead lines.

Botox injections are a purified and watered down version of the sometimes fatal Botulinum poison and because of the purification process can be used in cosmetic surgery. The reason people want to use botox injections is because every time you laugh, smile, frown, or for that matter do just about anything with your facial muscles, wrinkles are caused by the underlying contractions of these muscles.

When we are young and our skin is more elastic, these lines do not show but as we age the constant sue of facial muscles leaves us with lines and whilst many manufacturers have tried to produce creams that can get rid of these wrinkles and creases, unsuccessfully, botox can, at least for a short period. After being injected into the effected area, it temporarily paralyzes these muscles so that you can’t make these expressions and that’s why people who have had Botox injections can look like mannequins.

Because frown line, wrinkles and facial creases have all but disappeared, it provides the user with a look of someone much younger. Botox treatment is expensive with the average cost of just one Botox injection in the United States ranging from a few hundred dollars to in excess of 1,000 dollars depending on where the injection is used.

There is always some concern about new treatments and botox is no exception with many people worried about the long term effects of botox injections but even so this has not stopped its popularity.
